My Genealogy Book

I wanted this blog as a diary for my scrapbooking but am so scatter brained that I can’t remember to post everything like I wanted to. Maybe one day I will get caught up. I still have more blinkies that I’ve collected to put on here and am still not happy with my site. I start working on it and then remember something else I was suppose to do or get disgusted because I can’t do something right so I go to something else.

I have finally got done the first three pages of my genealogy book that I have been wanting to do for so long. I’m just not good at putting these layouts together and want them to be something that I am absolutely happy with before I use them in my book. So these three pages I am very happy with. I will share two of them here but one of them has to much personal info on it so I choose not to download it on my blog. But I think it turned out great.

This is the first page of my Dad’s tribute. It was done with a Scrapbook kit called “My Dad” by Ashalee Wall of Ashaleeandsweet.com.

This is the second page of Dad’s tribute. It was done by the same Scrapbook kit “My Dad” by Ashalee Wall of Ashaleeandsweet.com but I added a frame, ribbon and flowers from the DAC Collab Team and staples by Lynn Griffin.

Me in the yellow with black and white polka dot dress

This page was done for the July Book Of Me Challenge at DSO. I done this page using a Scrapbook kit from Munchin Scraps Spring Polka Dots and used bumble bees from Carolina Girl Scrap Creations Backyard Playground Elements. The fonts I used are Earwig Factory and Boopee. This is a photo of me when I was three years old wearing my sisters walking dolls dress. The dress was yellow with black and white polka dots.

My Blog Header

Last night I played around and made my blog header from Digital Arts Café collaboration kit freebie “No Milk No Sugar” by designers Phillsboo, Aliya, Adelina and Brooklyn.

I love the colors and embellishments.

Designer Credits: DAC – (Digital Arts Cafe’s) “No Milk No Sugar” kit.  This kit is Designed by a lot of great designers but my blog header only includes designs from this kit by Phillsboo, Aliya, Adelina, and Brooklyn.

Forums

Tonight I joined the Digital Arts Cafe Forum. It’s a great forum with lots of help and a big beautiful kit for joining.

Other forums I have joined before making this blog are:

Easter Layout

This is a layout I done using Creative Victorian Designs Easter Lovely background and Inherit Blessings frame, Boolands Granddad Overlay, Laura’s DigiWorld Background, Carena’s wordart. The photo is of my mom, sister and myself on Easter Sunday in 1969. I was five years old and just got my first pair of pantyhose and my first itty bitty heels. lol

Announcement

Ok, so here I am. No experience doing blogs or scrapbooking. I have been doing Genealogy for over 20 years and have alot of information and documents to go with them. All of this would not be possible without the help of all my new extended family that I have met while researching and the help of my grandma and grandpa Savage, my mom, my aunt Bettie, my cousin Wanda, my uncle Joe and my aunt Connie and everyone else in the family that has donated information. A big thank you to all.

It is time for me to start a book, not that I have found everything because that is impossible, but because I have so much information and I need to get it all together. While searching thru ancestry.com, I found there new program, ancestrypress, which is family tree books with what I call scrapbooking. That is where my idea of scrapbooking my family tree derived from.

I have downloaded alot of free scrap kits from alot of different designers, which I also extend a big thank you to. You can find there links to their pages on my blog. I don’t know about how to put their blinkies on this blog but am going to find out because they are pretty. lol

Thanks goes to PrincessCrafts Digital Scrapbook for helping me learn how to use OpenOffice.org (microsoft presentations) for putting my scrapbook pages together. I was really in the dark and still am but at least I know the basics because of their free Scrapbooking class.

I have put together two scrapbook layouts, one for my family tree and one of my family, so far. I have posted these to my Squeaky Scraps Scrapbook on ScrapbookFlair.com. I will try to post those pics after I’m finished with this post.

I have entered my first challenge on ScrapbookFlair.com on Friday, July 4, 2008.If you visit my blog I hope you truly enjoy what is here.
